Hawaiian Airlines

Dario,

Your ultimate goal should be to have a successful career flying whatever it is they’re flying at the airline that hires you. Trust me the A330, while a nice airplane, is far from iconic.

Adam

Adam,
Why is HAL planning to get rid of all the 330s by 2023? Is it operating costs, maintenance, etc…?

Hello,

I am 30 turning 31 in a few weeks, going through a mid life crisis with my current career. Someone turned my ears by mentioning becoming a pilot which has been a young childish dream of mine. My question is if I was to start now with no experience and most importantly no college degree what are my options and total cost? Is college degree necessary when I’m considering the atp flight school?? Looking forward to any advice or suggestions. Aloha Joe

Dario,

It’s always a matter of cost and efficiency. Originally we were supposed to go with A350-800 but Airbus decided not to produce that model so we went with the 787s. New design, next gen engines equated to savings in cost.

Adam

Joseph,

I recommend you visit our FAQ section as it will answer most if not all your questions.

How does Hawaiian receive people who visit their corporate office? Is the gesture appreciated or would it hurt if one just visits with no appointment or connection?

I can tell you that at United, you would not get past security without an appointment, I am not sure about Hawaiian.

Juan,

As Chris said, you would not get past security unless you have an appt. or are escorted by a current employee who’s recommending you. While they appreciate visits, they don’t want random people just wandering around the building. Hawaiian is culturally very traditional in many ways. Just showing up would be VERY presumptuous.

Thank you Chris & Adam

Hello sir ! Is it possible for a 41 year old man with zero hours to be successful in aviation… if yes, please how do I proceed??

Assane,

I recommend you take a look at our FAQ section as we cover questions like age and the whole process. There are also MANY threads on the subject you can search.

Adam

Yes I saw it but I wanted a personal answer for my questions

Assane,

Ok here’s a “personal” answer. At 41 you’re age alone is not a disqualifier and it is “possible” but you have to be realistic about your career goals as many pilots have a 20 year jump on you.

That aside I/we “personally” have no clue whatsoever as to your intelligence, cognitive skills, demeanor, coordination or any of the other factors that would/could determine whether or not it would be “possible” for YOU to become an airline pilot. There’s a reason I answered you question by pointing you in the right direction vs answering the same question that gets asked daily and it’s not because I’m lazy or tired of answering it. It’s because if you think when you show up for airline training they’re going to hold your hand and give you the personal attention you want you’ll be sadly mistaken. There are literally VOLUMES of material you’ll be responsible for learning and your instructors will give you a brief overview of the major items. The rest is yours to study, research and absorb ON YOUR OWN. The fact that you’re curious about a possible career that requires a tremendous amount of dedication (and money), ask your question on a completely unrelated thread (basically interrupting a conversation) and then can’t take a few moments of your time to obtain the information you seek frankly gives me more than a few doubts.

Was that personal enough?

Assane,

Please check out the FAQ section as your questions are covered in depth there.

Chris

Assane,

There really is no personal answer to your questions as the answers that apply to you also apply to everybody else and are hence covered in the FAQ section.

I got a brevet private pilot of the aviation of Ivory Coast in 2001 with 40 hours on my log flight. I pass the written private pilot above 90 percent in 2003 I stop due to financial difficulties ba
Co then . I’m a nursing Assistant in a nursing home, and in nursing program finishing in August 2020. I just have never fill my empty space and inner love for the aviation industry, this is why I came humbly to ask. I don’t like showing what I’m capable of. Because to me it will show that I’m full of myself, this is why I ask this way.

So I don’t know how to ask base on a specific case. Because we all have a different past Sir!

Assane,

Yes we do all have different pasts and circumstances etc. which is why we suggested (and are still suggesting) that you spend some time reading and gathering information so you’re equipped to make an informed intelligent decision.

Okay thanks for the advice

Hey Adam, just curious why do airbus planes like the A330s have different cockpit tables. Like on HAL it has the solid block and others it folds out?
