Medical Certificates

How long is a Class 1 medical cert valid?
Is it better to get right before training or can you get it out of the way months before training? Wasn’t sure if there was a time restriction.
Also, are there any instances where foreign travel would disqualify you from earning one or maybe for a period of time?

Blake,

It depends on your age. If you are under forty years of age a class one medical is good for 12 months, after forty it is good for six months. I would wait until close to your training start date to get a medical, unless there is a health factor that you are concerned about.

I am not aware of foreign travel being a disqualifying factor. After all, traveling is what we do

Chris is right. Only problem I’ve ever had with all my travels is I couldn’t donate blood for a few years due to certain regions of Mexico.
