Real Answers from Real Pilots

Studying prior to ATP

Just wondering how much time is needed to study the material prior to starting ATP, which course is the most difficult to learn and how long did each course take to study. TIA

Richard,

I wish I could give you a solid answer. It’s hard for me to quantify the
time it takes to complete the pretraining study material. Generally
speaking, if you studied every day for 4-6 hours a day, a month at least.
Maybe 2?

There are, I think, about 50 Self Study Lessons that need to be completed
before starting training. Most lessons consist of a 5-10 minute video, plus
reading assignments, and a quiz.

Then if you elect to take your PAR, IRA, and CAX written exmas to take
advantage of the incentives found here
https://atpflightschool.com/faqs/acpp-prep-written-knowledge-tests.html then
yeah. I would say about 2 months.

Just so we’re clear, a good pilot never stops learning
