Looking for a good flight school

Hello everyone, and thanks to the admins for setting up this forum.
I have been researching schools, so far “Flying Academy” https://flyingacademy.com/ has come up when searching for a 0-1500 program and I am keen to know what you guys think of this school. Did you attend or know someone that did? can you recommend a school for someone with no experience? which school would you recommend that will get you from 0-1500 in the most efficient way considering costs and time?
I am 42 (I read the thread for “how old is too old…”), so I am also keen on having great instructors, and join a school that has a good safety record, great reputation, a nice planes to train on. I thank you in advance for your time

Najib,

I am not familiar with Flying Academy, but maybe somebody that is can chime in. All of the mentors on this website trained at ATP, so obviously we are in favor of that school. However, we are here as mentors because we believe in the program and like to share our experiences with it.

Take a look at this thread, it will help you when comparing various flight schools: https://airlinepilot.life/t/questions-for-any-prospective-flight-school/117/14

Najib,

I haven’t heard of Flying Academy. I did notice that it’s an international school that trains students with M1 visas. Will this be the case for you? If not, do you have permanent resident status in the US or US citizenship? Without either of those you won’t be able to fly for hire in the US.

Najib,

I know many pilots and I’ve never heard of them nor do I know a single pilot who trained there. Further there’s no list of successful grads. I’d be suspect.

Hi Tory,
I am a US citizen, so I will not require any visas to work in US obviously. The reason I looked at FA is because they have a European program as well.
I would love to learn more about ATP program. Someone shared the questions to be asked to flight schools and all are very relevant and important to clarify. If you can guide me to the right person at ATP to talk to regarding the program that would be great.
Thank you
Najib

Najib,

The first thing you should do is spend some quality time reviewing ATPs website (https://atpflightschool.com/) as there’s tons of useful information on there. You also should know that this is ATPs forum and all the mentors are successful ATP grads and current airline pilots and many of the participants are current ATP students and instructors. You can feel free to ask specifics about the program on here as that is one of the primary reasons this forum was created. Finally you can of course call ATP directly (904-595-7950).
