Location Location

Is it better pick a ATP location near busy airspace or you would get more bang for your buck if chose a ATP location in a less traffic area? I.e you would spend lot of time talking to ATC than you will get to focus on flying on less busy airspace? Which is more important?

I say pick the location that works best for you and don’t worry about the airspace. You will be exposed to a variety of airspace during your training and even more so on your cross countries. In my mind this really shouldn’t be a decision point.

While I agree with Chris that I wouldn’t base my decision on it, radio communication is actually a very important pilot skill and one that many new pilots wrestle with. I even of one pilot who washed out of training at a Regional because he couldn’t keep up on the radio. All things being equal, if I had the choice I’d pick the busy airspace.
