Currently a middle age man looking to change his career path. Been in the restaurant industry forever. Including me, I have a family of five and would like to advance in a career that I believe I would enjoy and will help me provide for my family. Any advice for financial aid and other steps required to start this career would be greatly appreciated.

First you don’t say if you have any flight experience? While flying may seem like something you’ll enjoy until you actually go up you won’t know for certain. Before you get too ahead of yourself I strongly recommend you go for an intro flight.
As far as financial aid goes the only thing available for aviation are student loans. Fortunately right now many Regionals are offering Tuition Reimbursement to help with the payments.
