Benefits

While working for ATP as a CFI do they offer health benefits?

Earv,

While instructing for ATP you’re an “independent contractor” and are essentially self employed so no there are no health benefits.

I’m sure they issue a 1099 so does that mean I can claim my vehicle and gas expenses on my taxes? Does anyone have experience with this?

Yuran,

ATP does issue a 1099. For specific tax questions I am going to refer you to a tax advisor as I really am not qualified to answer questions like that.

Chris

Understood. Merry Christmas btw!! Hope you’re having a good holiday season!

Yuran,

I tried to claim the car and gas last year when I was at ATP, tax guy said it is not an option since I was not using the car to perform my job. Commuting unfortunately cannot be claimed as an expense to my understanding.

But I may be wrong, like Chris said, your best bet is to ask a pro.

Yarden,

Merry Christmas and thank you, sir! I’ll contact my accountant and see what he says about possible tax claims.

Thank You,
Yuran D.

Yuran,

You can claim anything you want, whether it’s legal or not is a question for an accountant
