Nice! Tory just wondering, what’s an approximate amount of hours you would expect to credit from this august schedule?

Tre,

Thanks I forgot to mention that. Plus, I just picked up another trip . This month my schedule is worth 91 credits. My actual flight time may vary based on actual block out/in time.

Tory

how long have you been working for the airlines? Im new to this forum and havent figured out all the bugs yet so sorry if you’ve answered this elsewhere. Is it typical to only have two censecutive days off? Chris’s schedule has 5 consecutive days off, just wondering how common that is.

Ryan,

I don’t mind the question. I’ve been at Horizon for 5 months now. I too
have up to 5 consecutive days off, but I have been picking up extra flights
to build time faster and make more money.

Tory

Tory,
How hard is it for a new Pilot to pick up extra flights? Also how do you like Horizon? I am hoping to work there after ATP. Do they only Have the Turbo Props?

Pat,

I love Horizon. I love living in the Northwest. I have good seniority, and
I get awarded layovers in my home town.

If you’ve been following our track record in the news you may have heard
that we’re not doing so well, but I think we’ll survive. A lot of people
think that we’ll be “eaten” by SkyWest, but I don’t think that’s true. I
think Alaska Air Group prefers having two regionals fly their routes
instead of putting all of their eggs in one basket.

Horizon flies Dash 8s and ERJs. Picking up extra flights right now is easy
because we don’t have enough pilots. We’ll see how things go as we dig
ourselves out of the hole we put ourselves in.

I hope things work out. I live a 35 min ferry trip and a light rail ride from Sea, so it would be awesome to be based close to home. Did you do your ATP Training here also?

Also something I have been curious about. If the Airline flies multiple planes, do you get type rating on all of them?

I did my training in California. And maybe. As an FO you will get typed in
whatever plane they need you in most. Then when it’s time to upgrade you
might have the option of upgrading in the other aircraft, if it is
available and if you want to.

Right now the ERJ has only one base; SEA. PDX was recently opened as a
satellite base but only 20% of the jet flights originate out of PDX. So,
not a lot of people are interested in the PDX base yet. Not a lot of people
are interested in being SEA based either. The jet is going very junior
because of this. 1.5-2 year FOs in the Dash 8 are becoming eligible to
upgrade to CA in the ERJ.

Tory

Im sure that in 2 years when I am done with ATP things will be different.
