I haven’t seen any questions about an audio recorder so I figured I would ask. During training for Private Pilot, I recorded ground sessions as well as Flight operations (No video just digital audio recorder) It helped a lot in retaining information, what I needed to focus on in flight, as well as what notes I was unable to write down while in a ground lesson. Is this okay to do at ATP?

You’d really have to ask admin but my thoughts are as long as you’re not introducing an additional electronic device into the cockpit that could be a distraction or become a projectile in flight it might be ok? Perhaps if you have an audio recorder app on your iPad that could work?

As for during ground sessions, you will need to speak to ATP admin and probably your individual instructor on that one. As an instructor, I would not want my ground sessions to be recorded.
